She Wrote
Women Writers in the Ancient World and the Implications for Women’s Contributions to the Writing of Biblical Texts, Especially the Gospels
Friday is a big day—my summative presentation for my doctoral degree in New Testament studies (ie, my dissertation defense). Seven years of school, research, learning and growth. It’s a moment.

The title of my dissertation: SHE WROTE
Subtitle: Women Writers in the Ancient World and the Implications for Women’s Contributions to the Writing of Biblical Texts, Especially the Gospels.
And now it’s time to give more back than I have received. So grateful for every word of encouragement, advice, and care from so many over the years—There are so many good people in this world.
If you’re interested in watching my dissertation defense live on Zoom, please message me here on Substack, or on Messenger, or even through my website (susyflory.com — scroll down for contact form) for the link. It will be on Friday, Oct 3, at 8 am pacific / 10 am central / 11 am eastern. Duration will be about an hour total: 5 minutes of tech setup, then about 25 minutes for my presentation. There is Q&A after.
Here we go!

Congratulations on your defense, Dr. Flory! Was it recorded, by chance? Your subject fascinates me and overlaps with what I’ve encountered in lay-level study of the Song of Songs and the Gospel of John. Excited to learn more!
Sending you lots of positive energy and prayers for tomorrow!
